Commitment
Accessibility
This site is built to be usable by everyone in the township, including residents who use screen readers, keyboard navigation, magnification or captions.
The standard we build to
Wayne Township is a unit of local government, so this website is covered by Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act. We build to Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA — the standard the U.S. Department of Justice set for state and local government websites. Townships of this size have until 26 April 2027 to comply; this site was built to that standard from the start.
What that means in practice
- Every page can be operated by keyboard alone.
- Text and interface colours are tested to meet or exceed the required contrast ratios.
- Information is never conveyed by colour alone — anything marked by colour is also labelled in words.
- Images carry text alternatives describing what they show.
- Pages are structured with real headings and landmarks.
- The site reflows to narrow screens without horizontal scrolling.
- Motion respects the reduced-motion setting on your device.
Automated accessibility tests run against every page before it is published, and a build that fails them is not deployed.
Known limitations
Some township documents are only available on paper while the form library is being restored. If you need any township form, notice or record in an accessible format — large print, plain text, or read aloud — ask, and the township will provide it.
Reporting a barrier
If any part of this site is difficult or impossible for you to use, tell us. A specific description — the page, and what you were trying to do — gets it fixed fastest, but a general report is welcome too.
