Open burning restricted in spring and fall
Under Ohio Revised Code 1503.18, the Ohio Department of Natural Resources prohibits outdoor open burning and prescribed fires between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. during March, April, May, October and November. The restriction covers yard waste, trash and debris — including burning in a barrel.
Outside those hours and months, anyone burning must still have the landowner’s permission, stay with the fire the entire time it is burning, and take every reasonable precaution to keep it from escaping.
Questions about a specific burn go to the Wayne Township–Duncan Falls Volunteer Fire Department at 740.674.4444.
